I bought this set in a woodworking store in Montana about five years ago and did some carving with them.They are good enough for hand carving but wouldn't recomend hitting them with a wooden mallet.They cut and held an edge well but some of the shanks came loose enough for me to spin them inside the handle after a while even though they were still fairly tight.I suppose that could be corrected by peening the steel band around the shank.I was in Harbor Freight a few months ago and saw what seemed to be the exact same set but packaged differently for ten bucks.I'd just go there to be honest.
